Mango Files (“the App”) is developed and published by Aaron Joseph. This policy was last updated on September 3, 2026.
Summary
- Your files, filenames, folder names, search terms, archive passwords, and file contents are processed on your device and are not uploaded by Mango Files.
- Mango Files does not require an account and does not include first-party analytics or a crash-reporting SDK.
- The free version uses Google Mobile Ads. Google may collect or receive limited device, advertising, interaction, diagnostic, and IP-derived information as described below.
- Purchases are processed by Google Play. Mango Files does not receive or store your payment-card information.
- You control storage access through Android settings and can remove that access at any time.
Information handled on your device
Mango Files processes the following information locally to provide its features:
- File and folder names, locations, types, sizes, timestamps, and thumbnails
- Search queries, sort and display preferences
- Favorite and recent-file identifiers
- Selected storage locations and Android Storage Access Framework permissions
- Recycle bin restore metadata, including the original and temporary file identifiers, filename, type, size, and deletion time
- Archive passwords while an archive operation is in progress
This information is used only to perform actions you request, such as browsing, searching, previewing, renaming, copying, moving, sharing, compressing, extracting, restoring, or deleting files.
Mango Files stores preferences and restore metadata locally using Android DataStore. Android stores persisted URI permissions for folders you approve. Clearing the App's data removes these preferences and grants. Archive passwords are never persisted, uploaded, or logged. If password recall is enabled, the password remains only in app-process memory and is discarded when the process closes. Temporary private-cache copies used during archive operations are deleted after use.
Storage permissions
Depending on your Android version and the feature you use, Mango Files may request:
- All files access to provide the App's core file-manager functionality across shared internal storage
- Photos and videos access to list and preview media files
- Music and audio access to list and play audio files
- Access to specific folders or removable-storage locations that you choose through Android's system file picker
You may deny or revoke these permissions in Android Settings. Some file-management features will not work without the relevant access. Android continues to protect other apps' private data directories. Mango Files does not use storage access to upload your files or disclose their contents.
Recycle bin
When you move an item to the Recycle bin, the content remains in a hidden .Mango Files Recycle Bin folder within the storage tree you already granted. It is not uploaded or copied to another storage provider. Items are permanently removed after 30 days when Mango Files next reconciles the bin, or sooner if you choose Delete permanently or Empty recycle bin.
Advertising and consent
The free version may display a banner ad on the home screen and a frequency-capped interstitial ad after a completed archive task. Mango Files uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google's User Messaging Platform. Where required, the App requests your consent before requesting ads and provides Ad privacy options in Settings.
Google and its advertising partners may process information such as:
- Device or other identifiers
- IP address and approximate location derived from it
- App interactions and ad interactions
- Diagnostics used to deliver, measure, secure, and prevent abuse of advertising services
This processing is governed by Google's policies and your consent choices. Active Pro subscribers do not receive ad requests from Mango Files. Development builds use Google's official test-ad identifiers.

Purchases and subscriptions
Mango Files uses Google Play Billing for subscriptions and one-time purchases. The App queries Google Play for available products and active purchases, launches Google's checkout, and acknowledges completed purchases to unlock Pro features and remove ads.
Google Play processes payment details. Mango Files does not receive or store your payment-card information. Purchase tokens and active-purchase results are used to determine entitlement status; Mango Files does not currently maintain its own account or purchase-history database. You can restore purchases in the App or manage subscriptions through Google Play.

Sharing and disclosure
Mango Files does not sell your personal information. The App shares data only in these circumstances:
- With Google Mobile Ads and its advertising partners for ad delivery, measurement, security, and consent management, where applicable
- With Google Play to provide purchases and subscriptions
- When you intentionally use Android's Share or Open with features, in which case Android sends the selected file to the app or service you choose
Android, Google Play, an advertising partner, or a document provider you select may process information under its own privacy policy.
Data retention and deletion
Local preferences and metadata remain on your device until you remove them, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App. Recycle bin content follows the retention behavior described above. Temporary archive files are removed after use. Google retains information it processes according to its own retention policies.
To delete Mango Files' locally stored information, empty the Recycle bin if needed, then clear the App's storage or uninstall the App. You can revoke storage permissions and advertising consent choices through Android Settings and the App's Ad privacy options.
Because Mango Files has no account system or first-party cloud database, there is no separate Mango Files account to delete.
Security
Mango Files limits file processing to the device and uses Android's permission and storage frameworks. No method of storage or processing is completely secure, but the App is designed to minimize collection and avoid transmitting file contents.
Children's privacy
Mango Files is a general-purpose utility and is not designed to collect personal information from children. The App does not knowingly operate a first-party system for collecting children's personal information. Advertising behavior remains subject to the App's Google Play target-audience settings, Google Mobile Ads configuration, applicable law, and the user's consent choices.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when App features, third-party services, or legal requirements change. The updated policy will show a new last-updated date. Material changes will be communicated through the App or store listing when appropriate.
